Old fashioned Outsourcing of Information Systems, and yet it moves!

More than other areas of processes, Information Systems have been at the core of outsourcing strategic options for years. Nevertheless, the outcomes of the decision to outsource IS are not always positive or clearly related to firms’ performances. The literature so far has provided many arguments in favor as well as against the outsourcing decision. Nevertheless, a comprehensive review of these findings is still lacking, and a clear understanding of the overall outsourcing phenomenon is missing. Building on previous review of the outsourcing literature, this paper moves forward suggesting future avenues of research.
