Openess and Closedness. A paradoxical view in crowd-based organizing

Crowd-based organizations can create multiple layers of contributors , but there is substantially fluidity and porosity between layers. Research on organizational design is yet woefully inadequate to handle this challenge since the design needs to be heterarchical, hierarchical, incomplete, agile, exploratory, exploitative, defensive, protective, and innovative all at the same time.
