The concept of gratitude is discussed with regard to some relevant social roles (parents and sons, mentors, teachers, doctors and so on). Most of the times gratitude is meant as a based on personal relations. However, in modern society we find relevant cases of impersonal gratitude. Gratitude is associated with wellbeing. On the contrary, a diffuse opinion is that people who owe it are in an uncomfortable state of mind.
