The book addresses the ancient and contemporary issue of the "pactum de non petendo". That the agreement between debtor and creditor goes to affect in a direct way the plan of action has never been questioned. What substantive effects that agreement produces, conversely, has always been the subject of intense reflection. The book addresses these questions by moving from two specific points of view: on the one hand, the relationship between the agreement and "mora debendi" and, on the other hand, that between the agreement and the prescription.
