Reward-based crowdfunding is a type of crowdfunding through which an aspiring entrepreneur can procure himself the capital to start his own business through online fundraising, promising to those who disburse emoluments prototype of the good he intends to produce as part of the future economic activity. Compared to lending and equity crowdfunding, in reference to which EU Regulation 2020/1503 applies, the European legislator has not addressed reward-based crowdfunding. This study, therefore, aims to reconstruct the discipline that regulates the negotiated transaction described, assuming its reconduction to the sale of future thing and distance selling, focusing – in a second step – on the effects of the consumer’s right of withdrawal.
