The new Provisions on the ownership structure of banks and other intermediaries, recently issued by the Bank of Italy, summarise and rationalise the regulations on the subject. Particularly worthy of analysis are the new rules on the authorisation of the acquisition or increase of qualifying shareholdings, where a number of simple presumptions are introduced for which contrary evidence may be provided.
