La dimensione interparlamentare delle relazioni internazionali del Parlamento europeo

The article examines the role of the European Parliament in the context of the Union's external action, highlighting its marked international projection and contribution to the development of interparliamentary cooperation (also) outside the EU. It first examines the position of this institution in EU primary law and the powers conferred upon it, which have been significantly increased by the Treaty of Lisbon. It then analyses how the internal organisation of the European Parliament is conducive to the practice of international and interparliamentary relations in particular. Finally, it focuses on the European Parliament's activities in the negotiation, conclusion and implementation of recent international agreements, such as CETA, the Brexit agreements and the EU-Mercosur agreement.
