The aim of this article is to examine the cultural humus of the study of administrative law at the University of Milan during the 20th century, taking inspiration from the essays of Aldo Travi and Mauro Renna prepared for the Centenary of the Faculty of Law at the Catholic University of Milan. This is done through two figures of administrative law scholars of the first half of the 20th century, Giovanni Vacchelli and Francesco Rovelli, and two fundamental principles of the Republican Constitution, the autonomist and the personalist principles, at the basis of the public law studies of Feliciano Benvenuti and his main scholars.
