This paper aims to examine some of Nuri al-Jarrah's poems in light of the latest critical reflection by Edward Said. The Palestinian critic valorises the humanistic approach of the Italian philosopher Vico and, like Italo Calvino, holds that philological study in literature grants equal rights to the expression of the plurality of voices. Al-Jarrah proposes universal poetics, an expression of Mediterranean humanism and at the same time a symbol of the existential drama of diasporas of every place and time.

Abstract
This paper aims to examine some of Nuri al-Jarrah's poems in light of the latest critical reflection by Edward Said. The Palestinian critic valorises the humanistic approach of the Italian philosopher Vico and, like Italo Calvino, holds that philological study in literature grants equal rights to the expression of the plurality of voices. Al-Jarrah proposes universal poetics, an expression of Mediterranean humanism and at the same time a symbol of the existential drama of diasporas of every place and time.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
