This review essay analyses the volume in the light of the contemporary debate on the rule of law, which in recent years has been enriched with new themes and nuances. The reading of the numerous chapters is carried out through the lens of three ‘red threads’: the role of rule of law with respect to the action of administrative apparatuses that are increasingly self-named in contemporary legal systems; the intrinsic ambiguity of rule of law, especially in its socio-political effects; and, finally, its relationship with non-state normativity, whether international or ‘only’ social. The review emphasises the density of perspectives and approaches of the individual contributions, making the work interesting especially (but not only) for the comparatist, the political scientist, and the jurist interested in the practical dimension – including the discursive one – of one of the classic concepts of modern legal-political theory.

Abstract
This review essay analyses the volume in the light of the contemporary debate on the rule of law, which in recent years has been enriched with new themes and nuances. The reading of the numerous chapters is carried out through the lens of three ‘red threads’: the role of rule of law with respect to the action of administrative apparatuses that are increasingly self-named in contemporary legal systems; the intrinsic ambiguity of rule of law, especially in its socio-political effects; and, finally, its relationship with non-state normativity, whether international or ‘only’ social. The review emphasises the density of perspectives and approaches of the individual contributions, making the work interesting especially (but not only) for the comparatist, the political scientist, and the jurist interested in the practical dimension – including the discursive one – of one of the classic concepts of modern legal-political theory.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
