Over its first 25 years of activity (a first season from Directive 46/95/ EC to Legislative Decree 196/2003, a second from the entry into force of the Code to EU Regulation 2016/679, the last one from the adaptation of national disciplines and rules introduced by the GDPR to date), the Italian Data Protection Authority has been able to meet the challenges of its time, keeping its eyes firmly fixed not only on the core principles of the national and European legal system, but on the ethical and political values that are at the heart of liberal democracy.
