This Special Issue collects a selection of six papers among those prepared upon request of the Commission for Economic and Monetary Affairs of the European Parliament for the quarterly hearings with the President of the European Central Bank between November 2020 and February 2022. The aim is to offer to a wider audience scholarly analyses and assessments in «real time» of the euro area monetary policy around three main events: the COVID-19 pandemic, the revision of the ECB’s policy strategy, and the resurgence of inflation. After presenting these contributions, we conclude with some considerations on the most recent developments and perspectives.
