Today's cities exhibit different dimensions of fragility, which are destructive to the emergence of shock factors. Resilience, adaptation strategies and risk mitigation fall short of expectations when an anticipatory approach is not possible. This is demonstrated by the global health crisis due to the spread of Covid-19 and the consequent social and economic crises. What possibilities do cities have then to face unpredictable emergencies? The paper presents as a possible solution the construction of antifragile urban systems, which improve with volatility. The goal of Urban Planning in crisis management, then, is to enable cities to benefit from perturbations creating net value.
