The essay analyzes the diplomatic French and Spanish relationship during the late Seventies and the beginning of the Eighties, it shows how and why France from being one of the most prominent sponsor of Spain adhesion in the EEC in the late Seventies became its major opponent during the Eighties. It exlpains the importance of the Common Agricultural Policy and the way in which France started to see Spain as a competitor for the mediterranean agricultural production.
