The enlargement process is generally considered among the most successful policies the EU devised in its neighbourhood. Yet, despite its formal relaunch in early 2018, such process witnesses continuous stalemates. Why is that so? And, how can the EU reform its approach to the Eastern neighbourhood? The chapter addresses the reasons behind the crisis of EU enlargement process in the Western Balkans and outlines two main strategies to reform EU approach to this region.
