Le persecuzioni religiose nel contesto della protezione internazionale

Religious Persecutions within the Context of the International Protection. Religion is among the five conventional grounds which the so called nexus clause links to the possible persecutions that a would-be refugee may face in her/his country of origin. Freedom of religion is (also) one of the human rights that the refugee status and, more in general, the principle of non refoulement protect. The article analyses these two different intersections between the 1951 Geneva Convention and religion, it compares the results that they reach with the principle of non refoulement in the European Convention on Human Rights system, and finally gives few observations about the rationale which is behind the structure of the definition of refugee.
