Sacrifice: my Life in a Fascist Militia

The book is based on an ethnographic research. Sacrifice is a Fascist organization that has been involved in numerous episodes of violence. In some cases it has been attacked by far left organizations. In other cases they have been the attackers. Many of its militants are in prison for having beaten up political adversaries or for having taken part in various kinds of clashes. The author has managed to enter two cells in Mussolinia and Lenintown (not their real names) to understand the cultural significance that the Sacrifice comrades attribute to violence. The history of this research, recounted in the Appendix of the book, is long and complicated and forced the author to live in more than one city. It lasted for five years and is divided into three stages.

Il libro è frutto di una ricerca etnografica, con tecnica dell'osservazione partecipante, durata circa cinque anni. L'autore è stato un militante a tempo pieno di un'organizzazione neofascista, di cui nasconde il vero nome per motivi legati alla sua sicurezza personale, d'intesa con Cornell University, e con il MIT, dove l'autore è research affiliate, e dove ha scritto la monografia.
