The strategic change is considered a key issue in the fields of management and strategy. We aim at investigating the impact of digital expertise of board of directors on digital strategic change. We expect that the inclusion board of directors with digital-related experience positively influence the initiation and the implementation of strategic change. We reconcile the upper echelons theory with the resource dependence theory by understanding under which conditions the board is responsible for directing the strategic change in the context of digital transformation.

Abstract

The strategic change is considered a key issue in the fields of management and strategy. We aim at investigating the impact of digital expertise of board of directors on digital strategic change. We expect that the inclusion board of directors with digital-related experience positively influence the initiation and the implementation of strategic change. We reconcile the upper echelons theory with the resource dependence theory by understanding under which conditions the board is responsible for directing the strategic change in the context of digital transformation.
