The introduction and impact of cellular manufacturing and a marketing orientation at Footprint Tools Ltd. is discussed. The program of change is detailed, i.e., introduction of a marketing orientation to achieve a business focus and introduction of cellular manufacturing to achieve focused manufacturing. Attention is given to the human factors of manufacturing and management of change since the central issue involved in the introduction of cellular manufacturing is people. The work is a preliminary result from a Teaching Company Scheme operated between Footprint Tools and the University of Sheffield.
