Consequentialist cosmopolitanism and global political agency

The chapter begins by setting out a number of definitional characteristics and presenting the fundamental rationale of consequentialist cosmopolitanism. It goes on to explore the conceptual relationship between citizenship and institutions, together with the contradictions which are inherent in the current global democratic deficit. It then explores in detail the issue of political agency at the global level and the concept of cosmopolitan citizenship before ending with some concluding remarks.
